Kids These Days Dye Their Hair the Weirdest Colors

It's been quite a while since I've blogged and am very sorry for that. Things have just come up recently in my life which have put the art on the back burner for awhile, namely my new job(yay me!), but hopefully now that it's calmed down a little bit I can hopefully get back on it.
So, I don't have much to give you despite the long break, but I do have one piece that I'm really excited about. She is a lovely violet-haired swords-woman dubbed "Kiriha". A kiriha is a japanese blade that I'm fairly certain isn't the blade she's holding, but I love the way it sounds and couldn't think of anything better so there it is. I would love some suggestions though if you have any ideas on a better name. just leave a comment or head over to my Facebook account a leave your thoughts on my page.

Here are the links to my Facebook and my Cafepress store as well, just in case you want to buy some merchandise.

Back in Time, to a Different Era

Yay! It's "New Pictures" time! I have two new lovely designs for you today and I'm very proud of both of them(even though I spent sooo very long on them because I procrastinated so much).

The first image is the second geisha I've been promising you for quite some time. She is titled "Lotus Dreams" and I'm just in love. I still prefer the original "Blossoming Geisha", but I'm still really happy with how "Lotus" came out. This project was actually very simple and I didn't have any problems with it, but, jeez, was it tedious. I could only stand to color a few minutes at a time, which is why it took so long. My patience is really my greatest enemy when it comes to my art(that and my short attention span :P). But, I managed to push through and came out with a really great piece.

The second image I have for you is quite different from "Lotus Dreams". This buxom pirate captain is "My Proud Metallic Beauty", but I'm not 100% in love with the title, so I'm probably gonna wind up changing, most likely multiple times. Title aside, I love her! She's the second installment in my steampunk collection. I'll eventually make another one, but for now it's just "Clockwork Sniper" and this lovely lass. I don't think I've ever had as much fun coloring a picture as I did this one. There were so many different textures involved, such as wood, metal, cloth, glass, etc. It was super fun to try out different techniques to get the material just right. The tiny little gears on her shoulder and peg leg were the best. I was freaking out over them and how fun they were to do. I also went out of my comfort zone with this one because I don't often do technology and I definitely don't do guns. Whenever I usually do pistols, they turn out really weird looking but this one just flowed from the pencil and came out perfect(in my opinion anyways). Everything about her just came together and made for a very relaxing and rewarding project.

Both of these pieces are up in my store (http://www.cafepress.com/starlightillustrations) and are eagerly waiting for you to adopt them and bring them home with you. Don't disappoint them! :)

So Easy Being Green!

So, St. Patrick's Day has come and gone. The parties are dying down and the decorations are being de-greened. But even though the rest of the world has packed away the holiday fun, you can still keep the luck running. I've finished two more designs and they're both posted in my store (www.cafepress.com/starlightillustrations), just waiting for you to spread the Irish love.

The first picture is yet another fairy of my Holiday series. Titled "St. Patty's Day Fairy", this red-headed beauty will only be remaining in my store for a limited time and then she'll be moving aside to make room for the next Holiday Fairy.

The second image is titled "Luck o' the Irish". I'm not all that satisfied with the pot of gold so I'm going to go back and fix it up a bit, but I'm really glad with how the leprechaun turned out. She's really cute and she's got this mischievous air about her. She's slowly becoming one of my favorite pieces.

Oh, The Things I Will Art!

I thought it was long enough from my last update that you all would be wondering what I've been up to recently. I've been a very busy little bee lately. I just finished another picture, which is up in my Cafepress store, and I've started coloring two more pictures.
The first picture, which I haven't figured out a title for yet, is similar to my "Blossoming Geisha". It's centered around another geisha, who's dressed all in blue, and instead of a koi fish, she's partnered with a Japanese crane. There's also bamboo and flowers in the background. I'm really liking the way she's turning out. A few people have even said she might be better than the first geisha. Not sure if I agree yet, but only time can tell.
The second picture, also unnamed at the moment, is part of my steam-punk series. As I've mentioned in earlier posts, I'm going to do a trilogy of steam-punk pictures, the first being "Clockwork Sniper". This newest installment is more pirate-y than the last, but she's looking really hot. I went more punk with the Sniper, but this one is definitely more steam. She's kind of a cyborg pirate and I'm loving her. I hope you all will too.

I'm also working on a few other pieces, but they're not ready to put into the computer to be colored just yet. I have two rocker chicks(Working title so far is "Party Like a Rockstar"), a ninja, a fallen angel(dubbed "Grounded"), and a cybernetic girl. I'll give more details on them at a later date, when I have them closer to finished. So, keep an eye out for any new art and I'll keep you all posted.

Seeing Stars

So, it's no secret that I absolutely love stars. I'm not entirely sure when my obsession with the little five-pointed shape began, but it's gotten worse over the past several years. Obviously it was meant to be though, considering Star is my middle name. My love of stars was destiny! :P
Anywhooooos, the point I was trying to make is that, because I love stars soooo much, I have a few new star-themed images to show you.

The first picture is titled "Celestial Eclipse". I'm as fond of the Moon as I am of stars so of course I couldn't resist putting the two together. The colors are a little bright, but I like the whole neon-feel it gives to the piece. I would like to eventually get a tattoo of this image, but I'd change the colors a little, maybe more silver and golds instead of pink and purple. But for the picture (and all the merchandise at cafepress.com/starlightillustrations just waiting for you to give them a nice home) the colors do very nicely.

The second image was an idea given to me by my sister. I was trying to figure out what to do as my logo. I wanted something simple and was drawing a complete blank when she said, "If it's Starlight, why not do a lightbulb that looks like a star?" Those weren't her exact words of course, my memory is horrible so I couldn't remember the actual quote, but that was the gist of it. I was intrigued by the idea and drew what you see here. I really liked it, but I didn't feel it could to the job of my logo so I went back to the drawing board. What I finally came up with was the picture I posted awhile back and is the second post, I believe, in my blog, if you wanted to check it out.
As always, all of the images I post and/or mention are in my Cafepress store, so if you fall in love with any of them, you can get a t-shirt, messenger bag, hat, or whatever you want with your favorite image on them. Here's the link -_-> cafepress.com/starlightillustrations
If none of the images I've posted so far pique your interest, I'm always willing to do commission work. If you want a piece specially made for you, or someone you know, just send a message to my gmail account ---> starlightillustrations@gmail.com or find me on Facebook.

Love is in the Air

Valentine's Day is just around the corner. Pretty much every girl's favorite holiday. The smell of roses, the promise of love, the excitement of romance, the thrill of planning the perfect evening with the perfect date.....how could you not enjoy yourself? To celebrate the holiday, I've introduced two new pictures to my gallery. I can't post them at this moment, but I'll be sure to really soon. If you just can't possibly wait though, I have added them and two other pictures(these two not related to V-Day though) to my Cafepress. There's still enough time before Valentine's Day to order something nice for your sweetie-pie. Don't forget!
