Love is in the Air

Valentine's Day is just around the corner. Pretty much every girl's favorite holiday. The smell of roses, the promise of love, the excitement of romance, the thrill of planning the perfect evening with the perfect date.....how could you not enjoy yourself? To celebrate the holiday, I've introduced two new pictures to my gallery. I can't post them at this moment, but I'll be sure to really soon. If you just can't possibly wait though, I have added them and two other pictures(these two not related to V-Day though) to my Cafepress. There's still enough time before Valentine's Day to order something nice for your sweetie-pie. Don't forget!

Wings Sprout in Such Random Places

I don't know what it is about wings coming out of people's heads, but I just really love the way it looks and its something you don't see that often. Another thing you don't see often- at least in my artwork- are men. I cannot draw the male form. It always turns out waaaay too feminine. So whenever I try to draw a man, I always wind up with a piece of paper with nothing on it but eraser marks. But I liked the idea of the picture, the whole forbidden love, Romeo/Juliet, falling in love with the enemy....thing going on, so I went with it and I think he looks good.
The working title so far is "Forbidden Love", but I'm not sure I like it that much. For one thing, it's incredibly overused. Do any of you have any suggestions of what I can change it to? Leave your thoughts in the comments! I can't wait to hear what you guys think!

Copper and Cogs

Yep, it's Steampunk. I went there. I hopped on the popular, Victorian-style and somewhat futuristic, bandwagon. I'm appealing to the masses.....and my own tastes as well.
I really like Steampunk. It makes no sense whatsoever really, but it appeals to a weird romantic fascination we all seem to have with this strange Victorian Era/Future hybrid. And like everybody else, I got sucked up into the fantasy as well. I'm a little ashamed to say I've become quite obsessed with it, but- don't worry- I didn't go too overboard with drawing it. You can expect as little as 2-3 more Steampunk pictures, coming soon to an online store near you! :)
There's not much to say about this piece. It took me a very long time to finish her, but that wasn't due to any difficulty with the picture, I just procrastinated a bunch(I know, I'm very bad.). The clock was a little annoying, especially the chain, but only because it was super tedious, which- as I've stated in a previous post, I believe- I'm not very good at being patient and taking my time. But it all came through in the end and Voila! We have the Clockwork Sniper.

Asian Beauty

This picture is titled "Blossoming Geisha". It started out as a tattoo, but I liked it too much, so I colored it and put it in my shop for all of you to share. It wasn't very hard to draw and color the geisha, but that coy fish....Argh, it was so infuriating! But that's how it goes with art. Not every piece will work out perfectly. And it wouldn't have been so bad except I have absolutely no patience whatsoever, which kinda isn't good for an artist. It can be very tedious work, but it's also very rewarding.
I'm actually thinking of doing another geisha picture. I'm thinking maybe doing the same kind of theme, ya know, the geisha surrounded by flowers and an animal. Maybe a crane though, instead of a fish, and some bamboo. I think that'd look pretty and I do so love bamboo. It's super fun to draw. So, hopefully, I'll be able to get started on that soon. Keep your fingers crossed! :)

Stars, Fairies, and Logos

This is my logo. I wanted something simple, but also something that represented my art and I. I tend to draw mainly fantasy and a lot (and I mean a lot!) of fairies so I figured that would be the perfect image to use. The star is simply because I LOVE stars (which is one of the reasons I went with Starlight Illustrations). I didn't want to make the logo too overwhelming or busy so I did a silhouette instead of a detailed fairy, not just because I'm lazy. :P
She came out pretty cute in my opinion. What do you think?

Hello World!

So, I've always been in to art and have been meaning to turn it into something I could do professionally, but only recently did I actually do anything to achieve this goal, this blog being one of those things. I've set up a store on Cafepress.com (here's the link to that --> http://www.cafepress.com/starlightillustrations) where you can buy shirts, hats, keychains, posters, or pretty much whatever you feel like with my artwork printed very prettily on it. I also have a DeviantArt account(http://lanfearwannabee.deviantart.com/), but at the moment, it only has artwork for you to look at, none for sale, though I might switch that once more people become interested.
The point of this blog is just to keep my marvelous fans, like you, up to date in everything I'm doing regarding my career in art. I'll post my newest pictures on here and maybe some in-progress works as well (if you're lucky :P). So keep an eye out, I'll try to update as often as I can.
